The BBC was born out of radio. Previously called The British Broadcasting Company Ltd, the BBC began wireless broadcasting in 1922. The British Broadcasting Company Ltd was later dissolved, in 1926 / 1927, and its assets transferred to the Crown Chartered British Broadcasting Corporation.

Since then the BBC has developed an extensive Radio broadcasting network, and consequently a few ways to stream audio via the internet. Click on the links below to learn about the respective audio streaming technologies.
