The BBC launched its Television service in 1932; since then it has survived the test of time and has moved into the digital domain. The BBC is the pioneering UK broadcaster in online television technology; and is the first UK broadcaster to offer an internet streaming television service.

On its website, the BBC uses many streaming technologies to incorporate video services. These services include, but are not limited to, Flash streaming, IPTV and 3G encoding.
